Music Ideas

Music Ideas

The ideas that we had for our film is a very high tempo song but also maybe one that Ironically has a link, either in the name of the song or the title, to zombies, horror or disastrous events.

For the only film that was related to the genre we wanted to do, Shaun of the Dead, the song had an ironic twist in the name which continued throughout the film, either with the action occurring or the events happening.

Through this I Have learnt about the difficulty in picking the necessary song for our film and how it can relate to what is happening.

Ideas for songs for our Film:
  1. Evil Walks – ACDC (This was our choice for the opening two minutes)
  2. "The Blue Wrath" – I Monster
  3. "Mister Mental" – The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster
  4. "Meltdown" – Ash
  5. "Kernkraft 400" – Zombie Nation

What we think others will be in to?

The Type of Media Consumer is ……

I think the other types of films that my audience will be going to see at the cinema are comedies and horror movies but maybe action and adventure as the excitement associated with this type of film is on the same level of Zombie Comedy films. Examples would be “Bad Teacher” and “Paranormal Activity 3”.

The type of music that the audience of a media consumer of this film will depend on which side of the genre they prefer more. If they are on the comedy side, it will be things like Rizzle Kicks, Maroon 5 or Christina Perri. However if they are on the side of horror/ zombie, they may prefer darker music such as Enter Shikari or Metallica.

The type of TV programmes that I think my audience will watch may vary from things like comedy (Stand up) to darker ones like Black Books. Comedy is the main point as not many TV shows follow dark themes however Day of the Triffids is an example of an army of things taking over.

Finally the type of websites will mainly be social networking sites such as facebook and twitter as they are the in thing at the moment and most people use them.

Through this, I have found out that if you like one genre in one aspect of media such as TV then you are more likely to be in liking them in things like films.

Comments about Preliminary Task

Before we could start filming, we had to create a small bit of moving image about a person walking through a door, sitting down opposite another and exchanging a bit of dialouge. For this, we worked as a three with Cameron however since he has left the group to work on his own. Here is our one.

From this, we learnt the do's and dont's of filming and the difficulty of location and having to follow rules such as the 180 degree rule.

Target Audience

This task involved thinking about the key areas we think our target audience will like. Key ones found were:

Dark humour for things that is gory or horrific
Light hearted, liker’s of previous work by actors
Horror age usually 15 and above depending on how graphic the horror scenes are. Comedy is usually a family age from 5 to 105 as it is family aged.
Both male and female but it would come to personal choice whether they watch them or not as it is down to personal taste.
For the younger aged viewers, it may depend on family upbringing and whether they were allowed to watch them as minors.
The actors of films like Shaun of The Dead, in particular Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, will draw in an audience from that film as they saw it was a good film and see how this compares to it.

From here, I will put thinking behind this, to further ideas associated with my film.

The age of people who like horror has surprised me because I personally thought that it was of a higher rating that people would be more found of that genre. However as the years progress, the type or association of a genre changes as people's ideas and believes are changed and also that on which people are brought up upon/

Audience Research

One of our tasks was to research what other people, maybe of a similar age or a wide range of ages, thought about certain areas related to our task. This meant we had a choice of how to present this. We did a questionnaire and here our the question table and the total answers we received and the judgement we created.

Through my research, the group I picked were of mostly the age at which I wanted to target my film at. A lot have gone with the areas which I needed but some went against it.

Through this, I have learnt of what is needed to please a target audience and that in general, I have picked the right age group for my film. The bits that will please my target audience is including areas which cross over the genres and make it a film, worthy of causing the same effect in a cinema and at home.
