Institutional Research meant we had to find a company or research companies which we think would publish and distribute our film. These companies had to have a interest and we had to state why. Here is my ideas or ideal companies to use.
The kind of media institution that would publish my film
I think that the right company to publish my film would be Universal. I say this because universal were involved with Shaun of the Dead, another film in the same genre, so would have previous experience in how to distribute it correctly.
Other companies like 20th century fox could have distributed my film and made it successful however with universal having had previous experience in this genre, I believe they would be the best suited for the task. Also the target audience we are aiming at are the same/ similar to what Shaun of the Dead was so they can help globally to promote it.
Production and Distribution
I think that the companies which will put up the money to finance my film would be either Big Talk productions or Bruckheimer films. Big talk maybe more of the favourite to do so as they produced Shaun of the Dead and films associated with that so will have previous experience in how a successful film like this is to be made. Bruckheimer Films may also be interested as they have financed a lot of zombie type movies however because Big Talk have done a previous film like it, they may wish to finance it because of the previous success.
My film is main stream generally despite some of the images that occur like the gore and the blood. The storyline has the right twists and turns and losses that culminate into the right story line for a zombie plus having the necessary laughter for a comedy as well.
From this, I have learnt what the companies ideologies are and why they would be suitable candidates for the distribution and production/ funding of my film.
